Description

The sweet granadilla is perfectly round and has a diameter of 7-10cm. This fruit is grown mainly in Mexico and other Central American countries. It has a light orange to orange colour, with fine speckles. The pulp is greyish white and considerably sweeter than the other varieties of the passion fruits. The parchment-like skin breaks and rips easily resulting in a fast drying out of the fruit. Hence, it needs to be handled with care. It may be stored for 3-4 weeks at a temperature of 7-10° C. The shrinking skin is characteristic and a sign of the ripening process. At this time the taste intensifies and becomes sweeter.
