„Galia“ Melon

Home / Origin:
This fruit is a new cross-bred species (from the types "Ogen" and "Honey Dew") from Israel and belongs to the family of "sugar melons". Main cultivation areas for the European market are Spain and Israel.
Description:
The yellow rind is lightly netted, the fruit is extremely juicy-sweet, spicy, and the flesh is light to pale green. The average weight is approx. 1kg. The many flat seeds in the interior are inedible.
Marketing :
The pressure-sensitive fruits are available year round and may be stored for up to three weeks at 6 – 8° C . Because they produce ethylene, they should not be stored with other fruits.
Use:
Thanks to their relatively high water content, melons are the perfect thirst quenchers. They release their full aroma when slightly chilled and fully ripe. Cut the melon, remove the seeds, and cut the flesh into strips. Melons in combination with Prosciutto or Black Forest Ham are very tasty.
